If you and your family have a long term rental in New York City, then you will likely be able to indulge in one of the tastiest annual events in the entire United States. The New York Chocolate Show happens every November, and groups from all over come from miles around to celebrate each time these candy enthusiasts line the streets.
The History of the Show
Back in 1997, two entrepreneurs decided that their favorite sweet deserved a lot more recognition. Francois Jeantet and Sylvie Douce did some brainstorming, and a short while later this much anticipated festival was born. Those with a long term rental in New York City who felt the same way about a real-life “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” experience were tempted to extend their stay in the city even longer as the mouthwatering event approached. Not only has The Chocolate Show been held here in the past, but it’s also drawn enormous crowds in numerous other places around the world. These locations include Paris (where the founders of the festival are from), Tokyo, Cairo, and Moscow. There was even an event in Bologna, even though the actual two foods don’t match up.
What Goes On at the Show
Anyone who shouldn’t overdo their sugar intake needs to stay clear of this festival, to put it lightly. Seeing as how it’s held each year in a location that’s very close to residents who have long term rentals in New York City, it can be hard for a lot of people who are weak for delicious chocolate. Pastry chefs and hundreds of chocolatiers from all over always show up with each of their respective chocolate-making arsenals, trying to outdo one other. People lick their lips and fingertips in blissful enjoyment while watching these pros duke it out. The cooks all get together to show off their talents at the 13,000 square-foot Metropolitan Pavilion each year around Veterans Day.
There are always countless demonstrations that leave spectators in awe, along with free tastings all festival long. Food writers with sweets as their main specialty also line the streets doing book signings for fans, and chocolate sculptures as well as chocolate covered models will also be there. Needless to say, your kids will willingly do chores at your long term rental in New York City all month long for a chance to be in attendance. They will have so much fun decorating their own cook hats (likely dreaming of becoming a chocolate chef at the event themselves one day as they play in the moment), plus your excited little ones will get to assemble candy jewelry. Warning: that will probably make one big job of putting them to bed afterwards.
